On 30 November 2022, the National Memory of the World Committee of Cambodia (MOWCAM), in collaboration with UNESCO Bangkok, organized the workshop “Dissemination of Documentary Heritage Listed in the Memory of the World and Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Memory of the World Programme”.
MOWCAP’s Secretary-General Ms Linh Anh Moreau shared regional examples of documentary heritage and tips for identification, and Register Sub-Committee Chair Dr Helen Jarvis provided information on
the MOWCAP Regional Register nomination processes.
The workshop’s 68 participants from memory institutions and provincial authorities learned of successful Cambodian inscriptions to the Memory of the World registers, the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum Archives, Panji Tales Manuscripts and the Recordings of the Reamker epic by Takrut from the nominators themselves.
Workshop activities also included group discussions during which participants shared 14 potential items for inscription to Cambodia’s Memory of the World national register, including colonial records and news media documents.
