7 September 2016 was a very important day for MOWCAP with the opening ceremony for the MOWCAP Centre in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.
The MOWCAP Centre was established through an agreement signed between the MOWCAP Chair and the Asia Culture Centre in December 2015. The MOWCAP Centre will be an information and documentation centre for the Memory of the World programme in the Asia-Pacific region. The Asia Culture Centre will also provide dedicated staff and resources to support its successful operation.
Speakers at the opening ceremony were Dr Gwang-Jo Kim, Director of the UNESCO Bangkok Regional Office for Education, Mr. Li Minghua, Chairperson of MOWCAP and Mr. Bang Sun-gyu, President of the Asia Culture Centre.
The opening ceremony was followed by a half-day public seminar on the role and work of the Centre.
