Australian Memory of the World Committee
The UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Committee held its annual Planning Day on Wednesday 20 July in the National Library of Australia in Canberra. The meeting included a report on the MOWCAP meeting in Hue, and reports by Dr Ray Edmondson on the Memory of the World Recommendation and the Review of the General Guidelines and Companion.
The meeting was also attended by Mr Clementino Pinto Amaral, from the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO, who came to observe the Australian Committee’s operations, and to discuss further collaborative projects between the Australian Committee and the soon-to-be established Timor-Leste National Committee. Mr Amaral also visited a number of national cultural institutions in Canberra, including the National Film and Sound Archive, National Archives of Australia, National Library of Australia, National Museum of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, National Portrait Gallery, Australian War Memorial and the Australian Parliament.
