The Review of the Memory of the World Programme is now online. Ideas for improving the Programme can be shared and discussed on the review website. Comments must be provided by 30 September 2016. Note that this is a later date than on some of the review documents.

Here is an overview of UNESCO Memory of the World projects in Asia and the Pacific as at May 2016. This presentation was given by Misako Ito, UNESCO Regional Advisor, at the 7th MOWCAP General Meeting in Hue, Vietnam.
UNESCO is implementing a programme in close cooperation with the National Heritage Department, Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the National Archives of Malaysia. The programme will result in the creation of a Southeast Asian/ASEAN ‘action plan’ for the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Preservation of, and Access to Documentary Heritage, including in Digital Form (2015).
The aim of the project is to support the safeguarding of the significant doumentary heritage of Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) through the implementation of the Memory of the World programme and the UNESCO Recommendation. A detailed plan has been developed and can be accessed here.
The Memory of the World Guidelines and Companion documents are being reviewed. The review group has developed a discussion paper and welcomes submissions to assist with the development of its recommendations. Submissions must be received before 15 August 2016.

A revised and updated edition of the UNESCO publication Audiovisual Archiving: Philosophy and Principles is now available. It was launched at the official opening of the CCAAA Joint Technical Symposium, held at Singapore’s National Museum on 6 March 2016. It is published under UNESCO’s Memory of the World programme.

It was released along with a short video illustrating the audiovisual journey from the first time sound was recorded in 1860.
The 7th MOWCAP General Meeting will be held in Hue, Vietnam from 18-21 May 2016. The MOWCAP Bureau will meet on 17 May 2016. More details are available in the draft programme.
Invitations to attend the 7th MOWCAP General Meeting in Hue, Vietnam have now been sent to Memory of the World Committees and UNESCO National Commissions in the MOWCAP region. Registrations to attend the meeting should be received by 17 March 2016.

UNESCO, the Regional Committee for the Memory of the World Program Asia-Pacific (MoWCAP), and the State Secretariat of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Timor-Leste, have collaborated to hold a training workshop from the 27-28 of July 2015 in Dili, Timor-Leste.
